Case Study

Improving Access to Safe Drinking Water through RO Water ATM Installation

Enhancing Community Health and Livelihoods at Dameracherla

  • Issue

Dameracherla village in Nalgonda district, Telangana, with nearly 300 households, faced acute drinking water challenges due to high groundwater TDS levels (~800 mg/L). Residents, especially women and children, travelled 2-4 km to access potable water, leading to health risks, additional expenses, and significant time loss.
  • Solution

Cube Highways Root Foundation, under the NAMEL SPV Community Development Program, installed a 1,000 LPH Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Plant with a 24×7 coin-operated Water ATM. The system provides affordable and reliable access to safe drinking water, reducing TDS levels to below 100 mg/L.
  • Impact

    • Provided safe drinking water access for over 300 households
    • Reduced TDS levels from ~800 mg/L to below 100 mg/L.
    • Improved community health through reduced exposure to contaminated water
    • Enabled daily time savings of 1-2 hours for residents, particularly women and children
    • Lowered dependence on purchased water
